In 2011, we launched Fenwick Gold, a collection of apps designed to enhance what was then Microsoft Dynamics NAV. What began as a suite of tools to support implementation clients in Australia has since evolved into something far greater. A globally recognised app portfolio for Dynamics 365 Business Central. With more than 70 apps on Microsoft AppSource, Fenwick sits as one of the top two app distributors globally in the ecosystem.

A legacy built on real-world needs

Every app starts with a real business challenge. Our consultants hear firsthand the daily frustrations Business Central users face. These conversations spark ideas, which we test, refine, and validate through hands-on use.

We originally developed Fenwick’s apps to give our Australian customers scalable solutions without the need for custom development. As their popularity grew, we not only enhanced and internationalised them, but also ensured they could effectively serve businesses around the world, across industries, regions, and use cases.

A major milestone came when Microsoft acquired the intellectual property rights to the Fenwick Gold Power BI report packs (read more about that story here). A testament to the quality and skill of the app team’s work.

Why the rebrand

As the demand for Fenwick apps grew, so did the company vision. What was once a value-add for implementation clients had become a standalone product business, with its own roadmap, customer base, and strategic direction.

By 2024, we recognised the need for a dedicated identity, not just for visibility, but to support future growth and better serve partners and customers worldwide. In 2025, we completed the transition and officially launched the Fenwick Apps brand at Directions North America and Directions Asia.

A brand with its own Identity

Fenwick Apps sits proudly beside the original Fenwick brand. While Fenwick continues to focus on Australian Business Central implementations, Fenwick Apps is product-first and globally oriented.

We’re also updating our website to more clearly define both parts of our business (implementations and BC supports vs. apps) to make it more user-friendly, easier to navigate, and built to ensure customers and partners have everything they need at their fingertips, from app documentation and support to partner resources and training materials.

And of course, more apps are on the way. The team continues to grow its backlog with user-driven ideas, grounded in real implementation experience. Whether it’s enhancing the core Business Central experience or solving niche workflow challenges, we’re all-in on building practical, powerful, and partner-friendly tools.
