Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Reporting in Dynamics NAV

Following every implementation of Dynamics NAV undertaken by Fenwick, we conduct a post-implementation review with our clients where we discuss what went well; what didn’t go so well; how we can improve for next time; and most importantly, now that NAV is implemented and running, what future projects will further increase efficiencies within the business.

It was during one of these sessions that the topic of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting came up. We acknowledged that while NAV is an excellent financials system and offers a large suite of pre-defined reports, as well as a financial report builder, there is no ‘out of the box’ KPI reporting on standard financial measures, such as Receivables Turnover, Quick Ratios, Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Capital Employed (ROCE).

Taking this feedback on board, we have built additional functionality into the Advanced Account Schedules module of Fenwick Gold for its upcoming release. This new functionality allows pre-built Financial KPI Reporting for any existing or new NAV implementation, with simple mapping to your existing chart of accounts.

Three new KPI reports are included as part of the Advanced Account Schedule installation:

  • Profitability KPI Reporting
  • Liquidity KPI Reporting
  • Activity KPI Reporting

These reports analyse figures such as Gross Margins, ROA, and ROCE; Current, Cash and Acid-Test Ratios; and Asset and Stock Turnovers – to name a few.

These values can be analysed in conjunction with your existing reporting, and by using the Fenwick Gold Report Distributor, these KPIs can be emailed to you on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, without the need to ever run a report again.

This simple enhancement to the core functionality of NAV demonstrates the power of customer feedback providing relevant functionality to the standard Fenwick Gold product.
