Fenwick is proud to announce a new partnership with Monash University’s student placement program, further strengthening our commitment to developing the next generation of Microsoft experts.

How the partnership came about

The connection with Monash came through one of our own. Jack, a Monash alumnus and current member of the Fenwick team, reached out to the university’s IBL department to explore opportunities for collaboration. That initial conversation quickly turned into a shared vision: to provide Monash students with meaningful industry placements and to help them bridge the gap between academic excellence and real-world impact.

Alumni connections

Monash already has a strong presence at Fenwick. Alongside Jack, several other Monash alumni — including Caryn, Chetan, Andrew, Adeline and more — have built their careers with us. This partnership is a natural extension of that relationship, allowing us to offer today’s students the same kind of transformative career opportunities our alumni once experienced.

Why Monash?

Fenwick’s mission has always been to invest in talent, nurture future leaders, and strengthen the Microsoft ecosystem. Partnering with Monash was a natural choice, not only because of its global reputation for its quality degrees in IT and innovative syllabus, but also because of the unique design of its student placement program:

  • Students are required to maintain a 70+ WAM average to be eligible
  • Applications are reviewed by the university to ensure readiness
  • A modelling tool helps align student interests with industry requirements

This structure ensures that students arrive prepared and motivated, ready to step into meaningful roles from day one.

As part of this partnership, Fenwick representatives now sit on Monash’s quarterly Cooperative Education Program steering committee, contributing to the development of the curriculum and direction of the student placement program. Through this involvement, our team and alumni share real-world perspectives that help shape the curriculum and ensure students gain meaningful, industry-relevant experience.

Opportunities for students

Through the Monash student placement partnership, Fenwick will host two students per year across the February–June and July–November placement periods. Students will primarily join in consulting roles, with many expected to explore the technical consulting stream, an area where Monash’s strong IT foundation will shine.

First round of interviews

In early October 2025, Fenwick conducted its first round of student placement interviews at the Fenwick HQ in Melbourne.

I’m impressed by the quality of students from Monash. They acted professionally and came prepared for the interviews. It was important to us to invite the students into the office for the interviews as it allows us to show what it’s like to work at Fenwick, and to give the students a chance to hang out with & talk to our staff.

Looking ahead

By working with Monash, Fenwick is not only creating pathways for students but also helping shape the future of digital transformation in Australia. Together, we aim to build a pipeline of skilled professionals who will bring fresh ideas, technical expertise, and innovative thinking into the Microsoft ecosystem and the broader tech community.
