While Dynamics 365 Business Central provides a comprehensive range of features for manufacturing, a focused yet simpler solution can be more suitable when you’re operating on the shop floor. Shop Floor Execution provides everything you need to get you from a Production Order to finished product, while keeping tracking of material and capacity usage during the process.
Setting up
Shop Floor Execution uses the same setup as Production Scheduler. To get started, first complete Setting up Production Scheduler.
Now you are ready to use Shop Floor Execution, navigate to the Shop Floor Execution page and follow the instructions in Recording and Posting on the Shop Floor.
Additional Setup
While Shop Floor Execution is ready-to-use out of the box. you may want setup some of the following for a smoother experience and better quality control.
- Track reasons for pause or disable pausing/stopping, as well as enforce time tolerance with Recording Policies.
- Separately record time per operator with Recording Time per Operator.
- Shop Floor Execution takes into account the active work hours of the Work Center. This means time recorded outside of the active work hours will not be counted and posted as capacity. Ensure your Shop Calendars have been set up to account for this behavior, see Set Up Shop Calendars.
- If you don’t want to record time via the Start, Pause and Stop buttons on the Shop Floor Execution page, enable the Disable Time Recording field.
