The Overseas Import granule provides a new framework for managing the long-term nature of overseas imports. The Overseas Import data structure is designed to store as much consignment tracking information as possible, providing an avenue for manual or automated data updates to inform your system of when the stock will be available to sell.
Overseas Imports integrates with the Requisition functionality standard in your system to plan your imports and ensure you fill or do not overfill containers by both weight and cubage. It uses a Purchase Order/Transfer Order methodology to handle the logical stock and financial movements, while physical information about vessels, airlines, ports and dates is stored against the Overseas Import record. This separation makes maintaining consignment information simpler, and allows for better insight into scheduling planned inbound shipments, giving users the ability to consolidate multiple purchases from different suppliers into a single screen.
Updates to key fields on the Overseas Import, in particular the Expected Receipt Date of stock, propagate through to any linked records, meaning that delays in a vessel’s arrival can be reflected on any appropriate documents by entering a single field. Rather than relying on paper-based reports and spreadsheets of vessel arrivals, importers and transport companies alike will be able, simply, to maintain a summary view of all of their inbound cargo.
The Overseas Import data structure is ideale for integrating with 3rd party logistics providers to acquire information such as container alerts and vessel notifications, ensuring that your system can be kept updated with the latest available information about the status of a given consignment.
Integrated with standard Item Charge functionality a Landed Cost overview screen gives you the detailed breakdown of the various costs, such as Duty and freight, associated with your import, giving you much better insight into your landed costs. Its data structure also provides a platform for sophisticated transport-related development: whether your business relies on exports or Customs clearances, transport or brokerage, the Overseas Import data structure can be moulded to your needs.
