Recure Price & Cost by Line Discount simplifies pricing by embedding the discount directly into the price or cost, making it easier to understand and process transactions without needing to calculate discounts separately.

Advanced Prices automatically applies the discount percentage to a sales or purchase line. The unit price (for sales lines) or direct unit cost (for purchase lines) will show the discounted value. After the adjustment, the “Line Discount %” of the line will be blank as the discount is already included in the price or cost.

To enable this feature on sales documents:

The following settings must be enabled to use this feature on sales documents:

  1. Search and open the Sales & Receivables Setup page.
  2. Navigate to the Prices tab, and enable “Reduce Unit Price by Line Discount“.

To enable this feature on purchase documents:

The following settings must be enabled to use this feature on purchase documents:

  1. Search and open the Purchases & Payables Setup page.
  2. Navigate to the Prices tab, and enable “Reduce Direct Unit Cost by Line Discount“.

Example

In standard Business Central, where there is an applicable sales price and sales discount, you may not want the customer to receive both. On the sales price list, you can use the “Allow Line Disc.” option to either allow or disallow the discount.

  1. Item 1900-S has sales price of $365.00. In the example below “Allow Line Disc.” is enabled.
  2. The item also has a sales discount of 10%.
  3. When a sales order is created for item 1900-S, the 10% discount is applied.
  4. If “Allow Line Disc.” is not enabled on the sales price list line, then no sales price discount is applied on top of the sales price.

We will now enable the “Reduce Unit Price by Line Discount” feature on the Sales & Receivables Setup.

  1. If “Reduce Unit Price by Line Discount” is enabled and the 10% sales discount is also allowed.
  2. When a sales order is created for item 1900-S, the 10% discount is applied.
  3. However, the Unit Price is reduced by the discount amount, rather than showing the Unit Price and the Discount % separately. The app automatically applies and brings the Unit Price down to $328.50 and sets the Discount % field to 0.

The same feature applies to purchase documents by enabling “Reduce Direct Unit Cost by Line Discount” on the Purchases & Payables Setup.
