Keeping track of why pauses are occurring in your production line can help you identify issues and improve upon your production process.

You can set up policies to require a reason code each time the production process is paused, or even disallow pausing.

Pause Policy

  1. Navigate to the Manufacturing setup page and specify the Pause Policy.
  2. If required, navigate to the Pause Reason Codes page and specify reasons for pausing on the shop floor.
OptionDescription
Allowed (No Reason Code)Pausing is allowed and Reason Code won’t be tracked.
Allowed (Reason Code Optional)Pausing is allowed and Reason Code can be optionally specified.
Allowed (Reason Code Mandatory)Pausing is allowed only if a Reason Code is specified.
Not AllowedPausing is disabled.

On the Shop Floor Execution page the Pause button will now behave differently based on your Pause Policies, such as allowing the user to select a Reason Code if an applicable Pause Policy was specified.

Tolerance

Ensure over-capacity is brought to attention by specifying the Time Tolerance % field on the Work Center. Once a value has been specified, the recorded time will be validated before being posted as capacity. If it’s over tolerance, then an error is displayed; however, this can be bypassed by a Production Time Log Admin, see Bypassing Restrictions.

Bypassing Restrictions

Occasionally, over tolerances or manually adjustments may be necessary to account for variances or mistakes. In such cases you’ll need a Production Time Log Admin to circumvent the restrictions that would normally prevent you from doing so.

To setup an user as a Production Time Log Admin, navigate to the User Setup page, and specify the Prod. Time Log Admin Password field.

When presented with the Prod. Time Log Admin Login page, select the user and enter the associated password to continue the process. This restriction will only be lifted temporarily, and subsequent actions that encounter restrictions will require re-authentication as the Production Time Log Admin.

Over Tolerance

When recorded time is over tolerance and an error is displayed during posting, log in as the Production Time Log Admin to continue posting.

Alternatively, you can choose to finish a Routing Line as an admin by selecting Finish (As Admin). Doing so will bypass any restrictions that occur during the post or status change process. This may be required if status changes.

Editing non-posted recording times

Any recorded time that has yet to be posted can be edited in the following scenarios:

  • On the Production Time Logs page, select Enable Editing and log in as the Production Time Log Admin. This will allow you to make changes to non-posted recordings.
  • On the Production Journal (when opened from the Shop Floor Execution page), select Enable Editing Times. This will allow you to make changes to the Setup Time and Run Time fields.
